Kenya Airways Suspends Flights To Kisumu
NAIROBI, November 5th, 2007…Kenya Airways has suspended its operations to Kisumu.
Explaining the reasons behind the suspension, KQ Head of Marketing, Michael Okwiri said, “The turbo-prop SAAB 340s that operate on this route are undergoing maintenance.”
Okwiri apologized to KQ passengers for the inconvenience further explaining, “We cannot use the new Embraer jets to alleviate the situation, due to the condition of the runway. The loose chippings on the runway could potentially be sucked into the engines and jeopardize our passenger safety.”
Kenya Airways has 2 Embraer E170 jets which are commonly deployed on the regional routes of Mombasa, Malindi, Dar-es-Salaam and Kigali.
Kenya Airways flies two times a day to Kisumu, using the 35 seater SAAB 340 planes. The first flight leaves the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 8.00 a.m. and arrives in Kisumu at 9.00 a.m. The plane then leaves Kisumu at 9.30 a.m. to arrive in Nairobi at 10.30 a.m.
The second flight leaves Nairobi at 5.30 p.m. and arrives in Kisumu at 6.30 p.m. It leaves for Nairobi at 7.00 p.m. to arrive at 8.00 a.m. |
